Steve has an extensive career in the fire sprinkler industry. In 1988 he became the Executive Vice President of the American Fire Sprinkler Association where he served for three years before becoming AFSA’s President in 1991. In his career, Steve served for six years as the Chairman of the Residential Fire Safety Institute, six years on the National Fire Protection Association (NFPA) Board of Directors, and was a founding member of the Home Fire Sprinkler Coalition, where he currently serves as an active board member. In 2002 Steve Muncy was named Person of the Year by Fire Protection Contractor Magazine for his significant service, leadership, and advocacy to the fire protection industry.

  1. I started fabing pipe in the shop at 16 then eventually was moved up to foreman. Now I am pursuing a nicet certification and another college degree. I love my job and wouldnt change it for the world.

    I think residential sprinklers wouldbe good and the person would definetly get his money back from insurance. Not for it or against it just think it is inevidible before it happens.

  2. Residential sprinklers add that extra line of defense should the worst happen.

  3. I really think all new builds should have fire suppression system built into them by law, it is proven cost effective and it saves lives.

Prior to working directly in the fire protection industry, Ryan spent six years working in the property insurance industry working closely with homeowners and insurance underwriters. In 2003 Ryan joined the senior management team of what is now one of the largest and most successful fire protection companies in North America. During this time he became intimately involved in the serious hazards resulting from uncontrolled fires and the dependable benefits of properly designed, installed and maintained fire protection systems. In 2008, he retired from his position to focus on improving home fire protection. As a husband and father of four, residing in Arizona, he is committed to educating the public on the pros and cons of residential fire sprinklers so that informed decisions can be made at the national, state and local levels. As a former business executive in the industry he is committed to the professional training and certification of designers and contractors working with residential fire sprinklers.
